This course is for anyone who has been in the massage or bodywork field for a while. Seasoned therapists will be able to relate to the examples of ethical boundaries here; many of the scenarios are some that many of us have seen ourselves. Ms. McIntosh presents ethical quandaries in a warm, yet realistic manner.
For every undesirable situation, there are reasonable solutions that can easily be implemented without creating an atmosphere of animosity between client and therapist. There are discussions about proper attire, transference issues, and how to maintain a warm, friendly, yet professional relationship with your clients. The examples offer suggestions about how to respond to inappropriate clients, as well as how to react to clients in social situations.
Although professional boundaries are fairly straight-forward, it is helpful to gain insight as to what certain behaviors mean and what to say to keep the mood amicable while establishing firm, healthy control. This course is for anybody who is in the business of massage.
